I would check with OHP for interpretation before OPRA signing on to a specific policy to its members???

Laryssa, I like your response. Individuals have the right to refuse using a seatbelts, and providers have the right to provide services to, or not or not provide services to, individuals who refuse to use seatbelts.

Clients technically have the right to ignore state laws and not buckle up (like all others do). Of course we would hope this is not the case and that we as support staff have their best interest in mind and would explain the natural consequences of such a decision. As I mentioned before you can create a company policy that states that seat belts are required for everyone (staff and individuals served) in vehicles that are not owned by the individual.
