Christine,

Regarding the member question about Social Media Policies:

MyHIPAA Guide has developed Social Media Guidelines for the residential sector, based on recommendations from the National Council of Boards of Nursing.  They apply well to all staff members, including DSPs, and the Guidelines are attached.

This resource serves as a good example of the practical materials we've developed as part of  our HIPAA program - geared for I/DD with guidance from OPRA's HR/Workforce Development Committee.

Based on recommendations from the Committee, we now have expanded consultation benefits in our MyHIPAA Guide subscription service.  For new subscribers who are OPRA members, we have a one-time introductory offer of $79 per month that extends through the Fall 2018 Conference.  Visit us at Booth 20, or set a complimentary consultation during the conference.   The session will help you assess your HIPAA program.

Looking forward to the conference!

Members,

We have a member wondering about what other provider’s policies are around social media interactions between DSPs and individuals receiving services. They ask:

Does your Social Media policy allow or prohibit staff and consumers to Friend and Follow each other. And do you allow direct communications between staff and consumer via social media?”

Thanks,

Christine
