The overall presentation was on the benefits of remote supports. This was a piece of that overall presentation but designed with the intent to inform county board staff of the harsh current realities of OSOC.

I think the long term solution is to have more remote monitoring for people instead of OSOC... Was that brought up at all? It sounds like this presentation was in more regards to the financial piece, but I really feel the long term solution is to get the majority of people into remote services...

Thanks to both of you for shining a light on OSOC.  Has been a loser since being based on $5.15 with no relationship to the yearly state minimum wage increases required by state amendment.

Connecting  it  to minimum wage yearly increase amendment after bringing the overall rate up to current costs would be on a long term solution.

Hello all:

We were asked to present (as part of a larger conversation about remote supports) on the financial impact to providers of OSOC to a statewide forum of SSAs. This invitation was graciously extended by the Ohio County Board Association. As a result we spoke to a group of roughly 500 county board SSAs using the attached power point. The same presentation will be given to the county board business managers tomorrow at their summer conference (again we genuinely appreciate the invitation).

The point is to show the reimbursement realities of OSOC, how the rate was/is built and that in every conceivable scenario the rate reimbursed to providers for DSP wages is less than minimum wage. Hence for every unit of OSOC the provider takes a loss. Our end goal, of course, is the elimination or revision of OSOC, certainly as it is conceived today.

Although you may already know much of the information contained in our presentation we thought it might prove useful to you moving forward if you experience situations in which OSOC is being proposed.

Jeff
