I agree with all that's been said here. Seems we need a significant "paradigm" shift toward understanding and managing "outcomes". There are a number of projects OPRA is involved with that are working to that end,...trying to overcome years of bureaucracy and focusing on the "regulations" makes it an uphill climb but change will happen if we keep at it.

I just have to add my old fart voice in as well: the regulations are getting more and more over-the-top. I struggle to focus on making sure my consumers are well cared for because I am too busy making sure the governmental oversight entities are well cared for. That’s why I’m working most weekends. Forty years ago when I got into this field, it was not with the goal of being the care provider for bureaucrats.

I guess Bev, many of us mature members in the field, feel same way. I wondered what caused this change? Was it a state or federal law/rule change the required it after over 5 years of doing it as we currently do??? Or because more private providers are doing it instead of county boards??
Thx

Fellow OPRA members,
Consider this simply another vent from member Bev Brubaker . . . . but does anyone else here on the OPRA listserve feel that the regulations NEVER end???? Just when we feel we are “keeping up” with all the regulations, seems new and more restrictive ones appear.
So, again, this is just a question whether anyone else her feels this way???? Or, maybe it really is just me, an 67 year old fart who has been around too long and needs to get out of the way?!?!?!!?!?

Subject: Updated Member Briefing Regarding Non-Medical Transportation
Attached is an Updated OPRA member briefing regarding Non-Medical Transportation, Commercial Motor Vehicles, Drivers and Provider Responsibilities.
Since the last briefing, the requirements for medical examinations of drivers have changed, and commercial motor vehicle drivers are now required to have a Department of Transportation Physical as outlined in the briefing.
Since the subject of commercial motor vehicles is complex, and often raises questions among our members, this revised briefing takes a deeper dive into the requirements that you have to meet as an employer of drivers of commercial motor vehicles.
