Last edition of the year!

When people say

"I couldn't do what you do."

Take that as a compliment.

They are telling you how very strong and

how unique you are.

OADSP Eflash Newsletter - Nov 2016

Written for and by Direct Support Professionals

Season's Greetings!  Welcome to the last edition of the 2016 OADSP E-Flash Newsletter.  We hope you have found the information and topics discussed throughout the year beneficial to you and your organization.  A special thank you to Katrina Sacay and Donna Rhodes, Co-Editors of the OADSP E-Flash Newsletter; as well as all of our contributors who have worked hard to bring you stories and the most up-to-date information about what is happening in our field.

For OADSP, 2016 brought with it many new initiatives to help strengthen the support that we provide to YOU.  These new initiatives include specific resource pages on our website for DSPs, Supervisors, and Administrators; the new Frontline Supervisor Credential; development of a Supervisor Council; the addition of a supervisor track to our annual Summit; and our newest program, the Leadership LAUNCHpad.  In addition to these new initiatives, OADSP continues to work with our partners and stakeholders to address the workforce crisis and increase access to advanced training and career development opportunities for all human service professionals.  2017 is already shaping up to be an exciting year, as we have plans to add an online component to our course offerings, and will be working with various partners to educate the general public about career opportunities in our field.

What is on your agenda for 2017?  No matter how daunting your 'to-do' list is, I encourage you to see each challenge as an opportunity to include others and improve services, whether it be for the people you support or the people you employ.  Please stay tuned for the January 2017 edition of the OADSP E-Flash Newsletter for the unveiling of an exciting theme that will support collaboration and facilitate conversations that lead to change.

In closing, I would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to each and every Direct Support Professional, Frontline Supervisor/Manager, Administrator, and other professionals for the hard work you do.  May you find some time this holiday season to reflect on the impact that you have every day, and take pride in knowing that YOU make a difference.

Sincerely,

Bethany Toledo

OADSP Executive Director
