Tony Thomas, Executive Director of Welcome House and OPRA member, had an op-ed published in the Cleveland Plain Dealer yesterday, as part of the ANCOR SOS Campaign strategy.  Tony’s focus was on he proposed DOL OT threshold rule.  http://www.cleveland.com/opinion/index.ssf/2016/03/new_federal_overtime_rule_if_f.html.

Local press may be calling OPRA members for comment.  If they do, please share the ANCOR website (www.disabilitysos.org) and this top line messaging:  http://www.ancor.org/sites/default/files/ancor-sos-topline-messaging-and-qa-012716.pdf (pdf version attached).  Please let me know directly, at mdavis@opra.org, if you talk with the press.  Also, feel free to direct them to me for additional information.

As many of you heard on Friday’s OPRA Members Only Update call, the DOL has sent the proposed rule to the Office of Management and Budget for OMB’s review.  Typically, these reviews are no longer than 90 days.  I will be joining a meeting with OMB, to provide them with ANCOR’s feedback on the proposed rule in early April.  This rule is moving quickly now, so please stay tuned for its status.

OPRA HR Committee is working with OPRA staff to develop a webinar for OPRA members, on various approaches to dealing with this new rule should it be implemented.  Stay tuned for notice of this webinar.

Thank you.
