Last year, my
husband took their online course for the ‘Annual Renewal Training for Current
Providers (10 hours)’, which was DODD approved for Behavior Support,
Self-Determination, Positive Intervention Culture, Rights, MUI, Universal
Precautions, Safety, and Best Practices.
I took an 8-hour
online (required) renewal training course through a different training
center. I will be taking this new course from CEU to see what it’s
about, and other courses from both centers.
Both were excellent
ways of getting this training requirement done. We were able to do these
at our convenience, from home.
I will say that both
of them, even though they say 8-hour and 10-hour, really took twice as long to
complete; mainly because the way they’re set up, you start at the beginning,
do some reading, then must click on a link to either watch a video and/or read
an online booklet/pamphlet on the topic, then go back to where you were and
continue. At the end, you take a multiple choice/true & false test,
which you must get a minimum percentage (above 80, perhaps 90, I can’t recall
right now).
While you are taking
the training, you can stop, save and then continue later. I recall that
if you stop while taking the test, you have to start over when you log back
in. But this just makes it so that you basically go over the matter a
few times. The one I did last year, there were almost 40
questions. There may have been around 50 for his.
At the end, and I
think you have the option of taking it until you pass, you click done, and
follow instructions to print out your certificate.
As for billing,
we’ve paid through credit card (very secure) and I’ve used credits.
There is a way to pay by purchase order, but I never needed to go that route
so I don’t know how that works. As to the cost, both sites list their
prices, and it depends on the length of a course.
Hope this wasn’t too much info. Bottom line - I recommend
it. Ease of use is high. Value of courses is high. Opinion
of cost is subjective; though I find them
reasonable.
