We typically get rid of anything 7 years or older. We do pull out any pertinent information that is worth keeping and keep that in a smaller file.

We are running into a storage issue regarding record retentions, specifically lots of paper on residents since the 1980s. We have some record retention guidance on financial papers and employer paperwork, but cannot find information on resident records. I am asking if anyone can direct me to how long we should keep current resident records (medical, flow charts, seizure logs, ISPs, etc) i.e. 3 years, 7 years, forever,  past resident records, and residents that have passed away. Any direction is greatly appreciated.
