Dear DODD county partner,
At DODD, we are working to enhance outreach to providers, families and other stakeholders across the state. Still, we know that our partners
at county boards and intermediate care facilities are our best assets in getting important information to people because of their strong, local relationships.
Today we are asking that you help us share an important message with Human Rights Committee (HRC) members regarding required training.
Online training is available to HRC members that will fulfill training requirements outlined in the Behavior Support Strategies that Include
Restrictive Measures rule
(5123:2-2-06).
HRC members can take advantage of the three free, self-paced, online modules available at their convenience by computer, tablet or smart phone.
These three modules are the first three chapters in DODD's five part series on Behavior Support
Strategies that Include Restrictive Measures.
Please take a moment to forward the text below to your HRC members, encourage them to complete these trainings and to print or save certificates
of completion available at the end of each module.
Please note that all facilities and county boards are expected to maintain evidence of training for all members of Human Rights Committees
functioning on their behalf. These records may be reviewed during upcoming regulatory reviews.
Thank you!

Dear Human Rights Committee Member,
The new Behavior Support Strategies that Include Restrictive Measures rule (5123:2-2-06)
requires Human Rights Committee (HRC) members to participate in training approved by
the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) in five
key areas.
To support HRC members in meeting this training requirement, DODD has included each
of these five key areas in three free online trainings. These three modules are the first three chapters in DODD's five part series on Behavior Support Strategies that Include Restrictive Measures and were
specifically designed to align with training requirements for HRC members.
What do I need to do:
Complete each of these online trainings and print or save the certificate of completion at the end of each module. Completing all three will
satisfy the training required for HRC members outlined in the rule.
