Good Afternoon,

We provide services to an individual who lives in the family home and his parent had a direct exposure. Employees working in the home were told by their physicians and by urgent care to self-quarantine for two weeks. We followed the direction of the physicians. One of the employees works for another agency but quarantined from there as well. As a small company, this could get very difficult. We too have concerns, especially with so many employees working at multiple sites and multiple agencies.   We are doing our best to have employees work at as few of our sites as possible and rearrange schedules accordingly.  At times, it can be paralyzing to consider that staff may or may not report potential/indirect exposure at another agency, come to work, then completely wipe out my company with their poor decision but understandable need for income.  As an agency owner, I am responsible to follow the recommendations of the CDC. Is this a situation where the confines of confidentiality prevent us from protecting each other as agencies?  It IS difficult to sit back and hope all have Best Practices in place.

Be Well,
Aleta

Hello,

The Health Department is supposed to oversee if someone should quarantine due to exposure, so we follow that guidance.  They only quarantine if it is direct exposure.

We have had a case though that there was no direct exposure, but the employee lives with her 91 year old mother so we suggested she have have a Dr. appointment to get their input.  The Dr. ordered her to isolate in her house due to the mothers age so we are supporting that.

Thank you!

Subject: Staff exposure

Hello everyone! I hope you are all staying well during this challenging time.

I wanted to check to see how you all are handling staff who have been exposed to a positive COVID-19 person. If the said exposed staff person is exhibiting no symptoms, are you still having them reframe from working for fourteen days. Our staff are very concerned about missing that amount of work and I’m not sure how we’d continue paying them and the staff who is replacing them, it’s unfortunately not in a supported living agency’s budget. Without a positive COVID-19 diagnosis and the short amount of time without work they wouldn’t qualify for BWC. We are going to lose a large portion of our staff if they are all quarantined for two weeks at a time. Please share your thoughts and/or policies on this matter. Thank you so much!
