Subject: RE: [EXTERNAL] FW: Medicaid Renewals-Update
Hi Anita,
The information below was sent to the CDJFS Offices;
The Ohio Department of Medicaid is providing the following guidance in response to the COVID-19 pandemic:
At this time we ask that county agencies focus caseworker efforts on processing Medicaid applications. It is imperative workers follow OAC 5160:1-2-13 by exploring Presumptive Eligibility for individuals who
would fall under a MAGI category and cannot immediately be approved for full Medicaid. We want to ensure coverage is granted to those who need it as quickly as possible. ODM will close the renewal queues overnight on the County Shared Services and AHS lines
to ensure that more applications can be processed as the number of new applications is expected to increase. In addition, ODM is in communication with CMS in an effort to lighten verification requirements, suspend renewals, and pursue additional flexibilities
related to presumptive eligibility. More information to follow soon.
All of us here at ODM thank you for everything you do daily, but especially during this unprecedented health emergency. Please contact us with any questions you may have. We are compiling a Q&A document to
distribute for questions related to COVID-19 as well.
When someone tries to call through shared services, or to the AHS hotline to renew they would hear:
Due to the high demand of Ohioans applying for Medicaid, Medicaid renewals are not being processed at this time. Medicaid coverage will not be lost because you have not been able
to complete the renewal process. Further communication will be made available in the coming weeks as this health emergency stabilizes.
Thanks as always,
Jackie
