This is an unprecedented time to take every precaution possible to reduce the transmission of germs. HRS is offering two measures that you can utilize to reduce
the spread of diseases:
Education
We have made available, free of charge, a condensed version of our eLearn module, “Infection”. This module is part of our larger seven-module course in the Fatal
Five eLearn series. This was written for Direct Support Professionals and others to learn the basics of infection control and what to do when infection is identified in someone they support. This version is a 22-minute video where the interactive knowledge
check questions have been removed in an effort to make it easily digestible in a brief amount of time.
Use it in any way that is helpful. Share it with all staff, families, people you support and anyone else you choose.

Telemedicine
In this time of the COVID-19 healthcare crisis, people with IDD need access to clinicians who can provide healthcare they need while reducing the risk of acquiring
and transmitting the disease to others. The federal government has recognized the high value of utilizing telemedicine to accomplish this in all populations and has relaxed restrictions in this area making it easier to utilize this valuable service.
Not all clinicians have the experience, understanding, or training in providing healthcare for people with IDD. The physicians at StationMD have been trained, utilizing
HRS’s “Curriculum in IDD Healthcare” designed and delivered by HRS President, Dr. Craig Escude. To inquire about using StationMD’s telemedicine services contact them at 908-663-2929 or
visit them at
StationMD.com
Important note: We do not profit from anyone’s
utilization of StationMDs services. We are strictly presenting this as a telemedicine option as they employ clinicians who have been specifically trained in IDD healthcare.

COVID-19 is a world-changing disease and
impacts nearly all aspects of life. Many with disabilities are not only at risk of contracting the disease, but are also at risk of losing their support structure as those who work in the field of supports can be affected.
This free, approximately 30 minute webinar will focus on the on how people with IDD and those who support them can reduce the risk of acquiring the disease, reduce
transmission to others and what actions should be taken to prepare for the possibility of needing healthcare during this time of crisis.
