Dear
ANCOR members and friends,
As we have already shared, ANCOR continues to closely monitor developments related to the spread of COVID-19 (i.e., the coronavirus) to ensure that our members
stay informed and stay healthy. As part of that effort, I write to share several resources I want you to be aware of:
-
Yesterday, ANCOR convened a National COVID-19 Preparedness Briefing for Community Providers via teleconference, and we encourage you to
view
the recording. During the briefing, leading national experts shared guidance from the federal government about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19, considered potential
impacts of the spread of the coronavirus on provider organizations and the people they support, and answered questions from members of the audience.
-
To give you quick and easy access to credible sources on the topic of COVID-19, we have created a
COVID-19
Resource Center on our website. The Resource Center includes best practices for staying healthy, links to what various state and federal government agencies are recommending
and more. This page will be updated as needed, so we encourage you to check back regularly.
-
The most comprehensive and credible resource on the coronavirus is the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), and we encourage you visit the
CDC's
COVID-19 Resource Center.

Preparedness and Response.

Above all, it is critical to understand that preparedness is important in any situation where potential risks exist, but as of right now, the CDC is reinforcing
a message consistent with other leading public health experts and organizations: most people in the United States have little immediate risk of exposure to the virus. Based on our consultation with national experts on public health and epidemiology, we concur
with this position and remind our members that precautions are warranted, but panicking is not.
Of course, we also understand that information can change. As we continue to monitor the situation, we will share relevant updates with members of the ANCOR community
as needed. In the meantime, if you have questions about COVID-19 and its potential impact on ANCOR members, please contact
Donna Martin, ANCOR's Director of State Partnerships & Special Projects, by
email.
ANCOR
Guidelines for ACC Participation
Please always consider whether your response to any Forum discussion warrants a "reply to group", or if it could be otherwise handled as a "reply to sender". All
members are automatically included in the ANCOR Forum Community (7,700+ people), so we ask that you be mindful of your options when sending, or replying to, a message.
We ask that conversations focused on COVID-19 and other emergency preparedness issues be directed to the Emergency
Preparedness and Response Forum so as not to overwhelm our members with emails. In addition to forum discussion and information sharing, the
Emergency
Preparedness and Response Forum library contains resources related to COVID-19 but also recordings of previous ANCOR webinars that might come in handy in any
emergency response situation, such as the recent tornadoes in Tennessee.
As a reminder, you can always regulate the forums from which you receive email alerts, as well as the frequency (real time, daily, weekly, not at all) of those
alerts by clicking on the My Subscriptions link at the bottom of any email you received from the Connected Community.
