Hey Anita,

I know we are in a different industry..ish but we use a system and we have had a tremendous amount of positive results. Our culture is the heart of our company.
  • The system surveys employees weekly, but with only 3 short questions (different every week). We get the stats and have action plans based on responses and also get to see trends etc. If you can't track/measure you can't change it
  • The system also has a method for supervisor-employee conversations. It asks revealing questions, but the supervisor can almost always get through it in less than 30 minutes We do this every two weeks.
  • The system also allows employees to recognize each other for almost anything. It just creates connections and a positive vibe.
There's more to it than that, but those are the parts that stick out in my mind right now.  I hope that helps.

Privileged to serve,
Andy

Subject: Employee Climate Survey

Hi Anita,

Hattie Larlham is looking for information on what other Ohio I/DD employers are doing with regards to administration of Employee Climate/Engagement/Satisfaction Surveys. I am requesting you share the short survey below with all OPRA members to gather information on what they are currently doing and if there is interest in working on this process together to improve the process and recruitment and retention outcomes for participating I/DD employers.

1.       Does your I/DD organization currently conduct a survey of all employees to assess satisfaction, engagement and the general climate of the organization?

2.       If you answered “No” to #1, would you be interested in implementing an employee survey?

3.       If you answered yes to #1, please respond to questions #4 - #8

4.       How often to you conduct your survey?

5.       Were your survey questions developed internally or did you purchase a survey tool?

6.       Do you use a third party to create, administer, aggregate and report your survey? If so, who?

7.       How are you delivering the survey to employees (i.e. paper, Survey Monkey, intranet, etc.)?

8.       Do you participate in a consortium of similar I/DD employers to compare and contrast your survey data with that of other participating employers? If so, who?

9.       Would you be interested in participating with a consortium of employers to create and administer the same survey tool using best practices and aggregate the data to  compare and contract your survey data with others?

Please respond directly to me at the email address below by Friday, January 17, 2020. Please provide the contact information for your organizations appropriate contact person.  I will share a summary of the information received with those who respond. Thanks.

Neil
