In my opinion, the only good vacation policy is a PTO policy that includes sick and vacation and has annual limits for frontload or accrual with nominal or no carryover. It just provides
what employees need each year without the long term liability of huge entitlement banks.

Subject: Question for ListServ
Hi,
I have a question, We are trying to revamp our vacation policy. The problem is we never had a cap on vacation and allowed for employees to carry over a lot of vacation hours (400+). We also have a system where employees can buy-back some
of their vacation hours, if needed. Does anyone have a really good vacation policy that may have the buy-back program as part of it? Or does anyone think that they have a really good vacation policy that they would be willing to share? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dominic Vacca – Executive Director
