Good Afternoon,
At the EVV State Stakeholder meeting earlier this week (PowerPoint is attached), the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) and Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) shared some very important information
so I apologize that this is a long email. Representatives from ODM will also be presenting some of these changes in a session at our Conference next week.
Some highlights from the meeting-
New EVV Compliance Data (starts on slide 11):
·
For the week of 10/10- 686 out of the 3,128 had 100% EVV validation, 929 had some EVV validation, and 1513 had no EVV validation
·
For the week of 10/10- about 35% of claims submitted were 100% EVV compliant (19,943 claims out of 60,743 claims)
eMBS Report:
Starting today (10/18), a new report is available in the Provider Weekly Report section of eMBS that will show when a claim does not have sufficient EVV units. Right now claims are not
being denied so these reports are informational only. Slide 16 of the PowerPoint has an example of the report. This new report was also announced in this week’s Memo Monday from DODD, which you can read
here.
Alternate Vendors:
Communications
ODM and Sandata is introducing new communication lines for alternate vendors (see slides 18-20). This should help improve and streamline communications between Sandata, you, and your
alternate EVV vendor.

Alt Vendor Demonstration
ODM is rolling out a new demonstration requirement for providers and their alternate vendors. The alternate vendor provider will be required to attend the demonstration in person for
each platform they offer as an alternate EVV system. After completing an in-person demonstration, additional providers using the alternate system can request a more abbreviated review.
This process
will apply to providers who are currently using a certified alternate EVV system and who are looking to begin using an alternate system.
ODM will be hosting two informational webinars on the specifics changes. If you are using an alternate vendor we
highly suggest registering. You can also learn more on slides 24-33 and on the
alternate systems page of ODM’s website.

Good Faith Effort Exemption
ODM is finalizing their Good Faith Effort exemption request to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and hope to have it submitted by the end of October. If granted, the
exemption would delay any financial penalties to ODM by a year since EVV will not be fully implemented in Ohio’s required services by the January 1, 2020 deadline.
As a reminder, while there is still no date for claims denial to begin if your claims and EVV information does not match, but we encourage you to continue to implement EVV as necessary.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Have a great day,
Christine
