Hey Everyone!

If you have a plan to celebrate DSP Recognition week, share it and you can have a chance to get rewarded with a trip to DC :) If you don't have a plan, you still have some time :)

FYI, you don't have to be a member of ANCOR to take advantage of this :)

DSP Recognition Week Challenge:
Tell Us How You'll Honor Your Outstanding DSPs and Be Entered Into a Drawing for a Free Trip to Gamechangers: The 2019 Policy Summit & Hill Day
Up to an $1,850 value!***

Direct Support Professional Recognition Week 2019 is September 8-14, and we're asking providers to share their plans with us for how they'll celebrate their outstanding DSPs to mark the occasion. To thank you for your time and participation, anyone who participates will be entered into a drawing, with the grand prize being an all-expenses-paid trip to ANCOR's 2019 Policy Summit & Hill Day, taking place October 15-16 in Washington, DC!

To unlock the minimum prize, at least 10 organizations must share their DSP Recognition Week celebrations with us; if at least 10 organizations participate, all will be entered into a drawing to win a FREE registration for ANCOR's 2019 Policy Summit & Hill Day (a $685 value). Because we want you to encourage as many of your peers as possible to participate, we're sweetening the deal: if we get at least 25 submissions, we'll throw in two free hotel nights at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel (a $644 value), and if we get at least 50 submissions, we'll unlock the grand prize by throwing in up to $500 to offset the cost of travel. In total, there is more than $1,800 in value up for grabs, but only if you participate and encourage other provider organizations to do the same!

Want in? Here's what you need to know:

  • To be eligible, your organization must employ direct support professionals and plan to celebrate them in some way (see more information below) during DSP Recognition Week 2019, taking place September 8-14.

  • Eligible organizations that indicate their intent to participate by September 6 and share documentation of their DSP Recognition Week celebrations by September 13 will be entered into a random drawing, which will take place on September 14.
  • After the conclusion of DSP Recognition Week 2019, ANCOR will use your photos, videos and other content collected for the purposes of the DSP Recognition Week Challenge to raise awareness about the important work direct support professionals do throughout the year to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
To help you brainstorm how you might recognize the outstanding work of your organization's DSPs, and to support your efforts to mark the occasion, we've put together the DSP Recognition Week 2019 Toolkit. In it, you'll find ideas for recognizing DSPs, shareable social media content you can use to raise awareness about this important campaign, links to key resources such as the DSP Recognition Week Store and much more. Check out the DSP Recognition Week Toolkit today!

Once you've decided how you'll mark the occasion, enter the DSP Recognition Week Challenge by completing this brief questionnaire by September 6. Then, during your DSP Recognition Week celebrations, be sure to snap photos, capture videos and/or write down your reflections about the impact of these events, and share those with us via email no later than September 13. Completing the questionnaire and submitting your accompanying content will ensure your organization's eligibility for the grand-prize drawing!

Once you've entered, share this email with colleagues at other provider agencies — and remember that more entries = more substantial support for your participation in the 2019 Policy Summit & Hill Day!

Best of luck—we look forward to hearing how you'll celebrate the important work of your DSPs!

The Fine Print

Any organization that (1) employs direct support professionals (DSPs) who support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and (2) plans to celebrate its DSPs during DSP Recognition Week, September 8-14, 2019, is eligible to participate. Limit one (1) entry per organization.

To participate, eligible organizations must share their plans to celebrate DSP Recognition Week with ANCOR by completing a brief questionnaire no later than 5pm pm PDT on Friday, September 6, 2019. In addition, participating organizations that complete the brief questionnaire mentioned above must also submit content depicting their celebration(s) to ANCOR no later than 15pm EDT on Friday, September 13, 2019. "Content" can refer to photos, videos, brief writeups, and/or other written or multimedia material depicting your organization's celebrations of its DSPs. By sharing this content, you authorize ANCOR and its partners to publish this content online, such as on ancor.org, on social media, in marketing emails and elsewhere as deemed appropriate by ANCOR.

The winner of the drawing will be chosen at random from the list of eligible participating organizations on Friday, September 14, 2019, and the winner will be announced publicly that day. The value of the grand prize ranges from $685-$1,849.42, and will be determined by the total number of contest entries. A total of 10-24 entries will result in a drawing for a free registration to ANCOR's 2019 Policy Summit & Hill Day (a $685 value); a total of 25-49 entries will result in a drawing for a free registration to ANCOR's 2019 Policy Summit & Hill Day plus two free hotel nights at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel during the week of October 13-19, 2019 (an additional $644.42 value); a total of 50 or more entries will result in a drawing for a free registration to ANCOR's 2019 Policy Summit & Hill Day, two free hotel nights at the Liaison Capitol Hill Hotel during the Week of October 13-19, 2019, plus up to $500 to reimburse travel costs (e.g., airfaire, train fare, mileage, vehicle rental) associated with participating in ANCOR's 2019 Policy Summit & Hill Day. If the winning organization is already registered to attend ANCOR's Policy Summit & Hill Day, they will be given the option of transferring the free registration to another representative from their organization or receiving a no-cost reimbursement of their previously paid registration cost.
