Nineteen-year-old male with Autism in need of a residential placement.   He does need 24 hour supervision and a private room, preferably.   When he gets agitated, he can strike out at others by scratching, grabbing or pulling hair or head butting. This can be quick and short or go on for a longer period. Triggers for his agitation are not always obvious to those working with him.  He is on a regular medication schedule but also has a PNR that can be administered as directed.    He does also have some SIB such as smacking his head, biting his hand, and pulling out hair. He can participate in his personal care but will need assistance to make sure he is clean and has done an adequate job.  He can feed himself, but he eats very fast and most of the time will not sit down to eat. He paces while he eats so he needs reminded to slow down.  He has a great smile. 

He is nonverbal and has trouble communicating his needs, but he will use some modified signs, take you to a wanted item and use other strategies to let you know what he wants or needs. He has food sensitivities to cow's milk, soy and wheat. He does not like to walk in crowded areas and can be overwhelmed by all the activity around him.  He wears a Project Lifesaver locating bracelet in case he would leave the area without being seen and has had incidents of elopement in the past. He likes to be on the move a lot so he needs and area where he can walk and pace with supervision. At home, he enjoys going out into the family’s fenced in backyard. He loves baths and swinging as well.
