Members,
To kick off your weekend, I want to share some quick reminders about EVV.
If you provide EVV-applicable services and have not started to discuss how to implement EVV in your agency, please read this email.
- EVV is being implemented by the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM). You can
click here to read a short fact sheet on EVV that was put together by ODM.
- Starting August 5th, any claim you submit for providing
waiver nursing services or a
15-minute unit HPC to an individual on an IO or Level 1 waiver will need to have a coordinating EVV visit.
- EVV is not required if you bill HPC under the daily billing unit/monthly rate calculator/daily rate. See a full list of excluded services
here. However, if for whatever reason, you need to bill a 15-minute unit of HPC at a daily billing unit sites, you will need to have recorded EVV visits for those specific claims.
- Claims for these services will not immediately be denied if you do not have corresponding EVV visits for each unit you bill, but at some point in the future they will be denied. This future date has not
been determined yet.
- EVV will be implemented in select SELF waiver services in 2020. You can see the full EVV implementation timeline
here.
- You can use either the state-provided Sandata system or you can use an alternate vendor.
- Your staff will need to sign up for any of the trainings using your Provider Medicaid ID. If you don’t know where to find that,
- If you use the state-provided Sandata system, you will need to take
this training. Currently you can register for in-person trainings, webinars, and online self-paced modules that will count toward this training. You need to complete training before
you can begin requesting devices from the state.
- If you have finished this training and are unsure about next steps to get EVV going in your agency, page 215-216 of the EVV Training Manual,
found here, will be helpful.
- You can learn more about alternate vendors
here. If you use an alternate vendor, someone from your agency will need to create an account on Sandata’s training platform and take
this training on the Sandata aggregator. This training is only offered in the self-paced web modules. After taking the training, your agency will need go through the alternate vendor
certification process. You can learn how to start the certification process by going through the slides
here.
- Click here for a list of frequently asked questions put together by the ODM.
- If you need help navigating any of the Sandata systems, including the training platforms, please contact the Sandata EVV Hotline at 1-855-805-3505. Make
sure you record a ticket number so you can more easily track the progress of you issues.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
Have a great weekend,
Christine
