We have had a couple of our staff complete American Heart Association Basic Life Support CPR training at their second job at various hospitals. When they submit documentation to us of completed CPR training it states that it is RQI Resuscitation
Quality Improvement – a program purchased by the hospital that provides a self – directed 24/7 mechanical device manikin that will test the competency of compressions and breaths. In addition they complete the AHA HeartCode BLS on-line training.
My question is can we accept this documentation as both 5123:2-2-01 provider certification and 5123:2-3-01 licensed residential facilities states that training must include an in-person skills assessment completed with an approved trainer.
I have been told that there has been an instance where a nurse was in the room during the testing of one of our RTs but I am still waiting to hear if that person was an approved instructor and if this is consistent across all area hospitals
that have this program in place. I certificate is attached and there is not an ID number listed for the instructor on it. I can see where I am going to continue to get this type of documentation. So far I have not accepted the documentation and had a nurse
repeat our live BLS CPR course but would be helpful to know if I can accept this. I wanted to reach out to you and see if you have had any other questions or experience with this issue.
