Subject: National Core Indicators Staff Stability Survey

Ohio Provider Resource Association,

As you are aware, the past three years DODD has partnered with the National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services (NASDDDS) and Human Services Research Institute (HSRI) to administer the National Core Indicators Staff Stability Survey. We have learned a great deal from the data you have provided since we began doing this survey.  You can view Ohio’s 2017 NCI Staff Stability Report on the DODD website at https://www.nationalcoreindicators.org/upload/core-indicators/2017_NCI_StaffStabilitySurvey_Report.pdf

In 2018, DODD started administering the survey to HCBS service providers only. As in the past, the survey will be mandatory and all HCBS providers will be required to complete the survey.

As a reminder, this survey asks questions relating to volume, stability, compensation and benefits of DSP’s serving adults and/or children. The data gathered from this survey will help DODD, along with other policy makers and advocates, to:

· Inform policy/program development regarding direct service workforce improvement initiatives;

· Monitor and evaluate the impact of workforce initiatives;

· Compare states’ workforce outcomes with those of other states. 

You will soon be receiving an email from HSRI asking you to participate in this survey. They will provide you with a unique link to log-in that will enable you to complete the survey. This year, the information you provide will be reported to DODD in both aggregate and disaggregated form. Each agency’s information will be identified in a report that will be publicly available.

The survey should be completed by your Human Resources or Payroll offices and reflect direct support professionals who were on payroll anytime between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. NCI staff from NASDDDS & HSRI will present a 1-hour webinar on the survey that will include why it’s important and how to complete the survey. The deadline to complete this survey is May 31, 2019.
