Recently we requested a waiver (an exception, not a Medicaid waiver) for an 18 year who did not yet have her diploma, we were granted the request within a day or two.
 
This was VERY helpful as we were ready to hire the applicant. 
 
We did have to agree that with a specified time (6 months or a year, I forget) she did have to complete one or the other.
 
I do agree that a diploma nor a GED makes a good DSP.   There ought to be a permanent exception given by DODD for the staff person who has proved themselves to be a competent DSP.

So, back to this waiver for GED/HS DIPLOMA... Can you employee someone in a DSP position while you are waiting on the waiver to be approved/denied?
