I inform you with deep sadness that our good friend and colleague, Walter Zborowsky passed away last Wednesday. Walter served a mentor to many in the field (including me) and was a passionate advocate for people with DD and the DD service system. He will be missed.

Arrangements are pending. I will send more information as it becomes available.

Walter Zborowsky 1930 - 2019

It is with deep sadness that we announce HELP Foundation’s former CEO, Walter Zborowsky, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the age of 89.  Walter played a pivotal role in nurturing the growth of HELP from a single group home serving just a few children to a regional organization serving over 700 developmentally and intellectually disable adults and children.

Walter was a fierce and devoted advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities and can be credited for numerous legislative changes in Ohio.  He frequently lectured on the subject of social policy and received numerous awards and honors for expanding the opportunities for those with IDD.  Walter is considered a pioneer in the field of developmental disabilities and his accomplishments will live on through his legacy.

Walter is survived by his wife Elizabeth and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He will be dearly missed not only by his family but by all who knew him and those whose lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held at Lake View Cemetery (12316 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106) at a date in the near future.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HELP Foundation, Inc., 26900 Euclid Ave., Euclid, OH 44132.
