My fellow OPRA members,

As some of you have heard by now, today our own Jeff Davis has been appointed by Governor-elect DeWine as the next Director of DODD.  It is assumed that Jeff will begin working for the state next week.    Although this evokes mixed emotions for our OPRA family, I do hope you join me in congratulating Jeff on this major appointment.  Once again, one of our own, will become the Director of our Ohio IDD system.

I would like to reassure all of you that the daily work of OPRA will not miss a beat during this transition process.  Our wonderful OPRA staff are on the job and you should continue to depend on your trade association as you always have.  Anita Allen will be your point of contact for your major issues during this transition and of course you should feel free to reach out to me if you have any concerns.  The OPRA Board will begin the process of looking for our next OPRA President/CEO immediately.

This is a major day for all of us that utilize, work and depend on our Ohio IDD system.  Jeff is a very talented, dependable and loyal professional.  He’s a good person.  Providers in Ohio will certainly have a Director of DODD that understands our issues and I am confident will have an open ear to our concerns.  I urge all of you to support Jeff in his new leadership role.  His success, is our success.  Investing in a strong and vibrant IDD system starts today by investing our support in the success of Director Jeff Davis.

We not only have one former CEO of OPRA on the Governor’s cabinet, it was also announced today that former OPRA CEO Maureen Corcoran has been appointed Director of Medicaid.  It’s a big day for OPRA and Ohio.
