Dave,
Are you sure the USB ports are bad? USB ports are tough and will take a lot
of abuse. Sometimes unplugging a device without first turning off the port
causes the PC not to recognize the device the next time that you plug it in
and appears the port is not working. Just a thought.

Top OF the list is my laptop's USB ports have all gone sour (anyone got an
old one they are ready to donate???...and there's that one computer that
can't seem to find any printers on the network.
