FW: Driving Abstracts Teri Derry 28 Sep 2010 16:14 UTC

I have been trying for a couple of weeks to track someone down at the department to get an answer to the driver abstract question. I was finally able to talk with Kelly Miller today.
She said that they really were trying to be "more reasonable" about these kinds of things. She said that she believed that what they care about is if it is done and that the person has a clean record. She said as long as it is clear that it is a screen shot from the BMV and not just some fabricated document from the individual etc. they will accept it.
She asked that if you have situations where you have been told differently she would like for you to send them to her (or to me if you do not feel comfortable sending them to her directly and I will communicate them to her,) so that she can take a look at them to try to determine why they would not accept the screen shot from the BMV.
Her email is kelly.miller@dodd.ohio.gov

I hope this is helpful. Please if you are getting conflicting directives let myself or Kelly know so that we can continue to hold them to the standard of being reasonable.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions or examples that you would like for me to pass on. Have a great week.

Can either one of you help us on this? We have two licensure people stating opposite policies regarding abstracts.

Who can we speak with to get correct information, that all licensure people follow?

Thanks for your help!

Nancy

Jonathan-
To my knowledge, Licensure looks at Personnel files and Medicaid does not. Does anyone know if this new standard about not having an "official" drivers' license abstract is in writing anywhere? Jim Seminara has dinged us more than once because the abstract didn't have the State of Ohio seal.

I heard that from a Licensure reviewer I met with today as well. However, does anyone know if Medicaid accept the "unofficial" one as well, if needed?

Hello everyone,

Ironically, yesterday at our meeting we talked about what is acceptable
and not acceptable for driving abstracts in regard to Licensure....
Today I had a review, and the surveyor told me that they will accept
the "unofficial" abstract that you can print for free from the BMV
website.
