I would recommend evaluating where the tip is coming from. If there is no concern there, I would talk to the new hire and tell him/her you had a tip that they may have a problem with bed bugs at home. Ask if it’s true (anyone can get them) and if they have ever had treatment for bed bugs. Ask to see proof (an invoice from an exterminator, etc.)
You may offend and even lose the new hire, but this will be far better than risking bringing bed bugs into your homes.
Good luck.

Subject: Question for List Serve
Below please see a question from a member. Any information you can share is appreciated.
We are wondering if anyone on the list serve has had this concern:
We have hired a new staff but have not yet had orientation (scheduled Friday 10/27/17). In the meantime we have been told that this potential new hire has bed bugs. We are treading lightly as we do not want to offend the new hire and also do not want bed bugs brought into our clients homes.
Looking to see if anyone else has ever dealt with a situation like this or thoughts on how to handle this.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
