HI Laura.  We do the TB test, which is called a T-Spot, which is one blood test and meets the two-step TB  test requirement.  This way the new employee does not have a waiting period between the tests  and remembering to go back for the 2nd injection.     We use a local hospital, where we have our new hires complete a physical, and their  drug test at the same time they then complete their TB test.  Then annually we do a simple checklist asking the employee if they feel they have any signs or symptoms.

Please  feel free to contact me Laura if you have any further questions.  Happy to help.

Kind Regards,

Subject: Question for OPRA HR Listserv

Good morning members,

Laura Oleksa, PHR, SHRM-CP HR Officer, Welcome House, Inc. is asking the following question of the OPRA HR Listserv:

“My question is how do you handle the TB tests? Do you have any preferred providers?  Any good tips?”

“We have been doing them in house but I guess you need to have a license to do that.  I guess the next question would be is it worth it to get the license?”

Thank you,

Rhonda Jacob
