Assisting Individuals with Co-Occurring Conditions: Mental Illness and Developmental Disabilities

What will I learn: You will receive an overview of some of the more common mental illnesses experienced by people with disabilities. The main focus is on what we can do to assist people who have dual diagnosis - using a lot of the techniques used in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.  The curriculum is very practical - focused on learning counseling skills and crisis intervention skills and adapting them to the individual with intellectual disability.
