Subject: Medicaid Expansion Assessment Briefing in Cincinnati

The Kasich administration has asked for our help on their briefing next week on the impact of Medicaid expansion.  The briefing is Tuesday, August 28th at 11am.  It is an invitation only event that will include the media.  If you are able to attend, I will send you the invitation information.  Director Barbara Sears (Medicaid) will present, followed by Medicaid expansion recipients. I have two asks of you:

1.   We're interested in people who have accessed health care coverage through Medicaid expansion and as a result are able to work or able to work more hours.  We need 1 - 2 people from IDD.  They will be asked to speak to the briefing audience for about 1 - 2 minutes and then be available to answer questions (if they're uncomfortable with answering questions, we can let the press know that).  I realize this is very short notice for people, but I hope one of your staff is available and willing to speak.  We'd like to have a representative of our profession speak.  Please contact me directly at mdavis@opra.org<mailto:mdavis@opra.org> if you have someone who accesses affordable health care coverage through Medicaid expansion and who might be willing to speak.

2.   We need to have people in attendance at the briefing who will be able to stick with our message.  Pretty simple - Medicaid expansion is good for Ohio...  Please let me know if you have folks that may be able to attend, I'm happy to register them for the briefing.
