I have found in the past that one key area that greatly helps my effectiveness in communicating momentum during any fund or membership campaign is centering around an organization's participation with their Board of Directors. In the past, during annual fundraising drives, I have sent messages spotlighting that the organization had "100% of Board participation, and now needs the entire community to meet our goals". I would like to do a similar "push" with OPRA's membership drive. Since every board member is required to be a member, I assume ( or at least I am hopeful) that they have all renewed for 2014 after receiving the folders. If so, can you confirm the actual percentage of board members who have renewed. Once I have this figure, I want to make a couple of targeted marketing emails to send out to all of our "renewing" members, as well as potential members telling them that "our entire board has renewed their membership and is committed to helping us achieve our 40th anniversary goal to increase membership". We will then tell them that "we are hopeful that they will consider joining OPRA during this exciting time". Every "good" reason we have to reach and touch members that have "put off" renewing for this year the more effective we will be in maintaining them. If we do not have a large part of our board members who have renewed, would you consider sending them this request so that they can hear how the timing on their renewals could help our membership initiatives greatly.
