Just a couple of follow-ups from the weekend.

We submitted our comments and concerns regarding HB 795 to House Majority Caucus staff over the weekend. While we received some positive feedback, we are not counting our chickens before they hatch. Ultimately, we will not know how successful those conversations were until we see actual bill language reflecting the proposed changes.

The bill is scheduled for hearings before the House Medicaid Committee today (6/2) and tomorrow (6/3), both at 4:00 PM. Today’s hearing will consist of proponent testimony, while tomorrow’s hearing will include opponent testimony.

At this point, because we do not yet know whether our concerns have been addressed, we are still positioning ourselves primarily as an interested party. We do anticipate there will likely be another hearing next week, followed by a possible House vote.

For your reference, I have attached the submission we provided to House staff.

I am also sharing a discussion guide that outlines many of the federal, state, and local challenges currently impacting Ohio’s DD system. The guide is intended to help provide members with a framework for discussing these issues with staff, boards, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
