Good Afternoon!

As many of you know, OPRA has recently migrated its website to a new “back end” – and if you know this, it might be because you’ve experienced some of the “glitchiness” that comes naturally with such a transition. We are still working out kinks behind the scenes and on the website-visitor side, and we very much appreciate your patience while the Communication team makes its way through the list of to-dos.

One of the vehicles of OPRA communication that will eventually be absorbed by the new site is the listserv. We’re in the process of designing a forum-like area in which OPRA Members can continue to exchange information, update each other, receive alerts from the Association, etc., but in a less “my email inbox is busting at the seams!” way.

We have heard your suggestions about reducing the back-and-forth that can occur in the listserv environment, and we want to honor that need as best we can!

In the meantime, and while intra-Membership communication largely happens via the listserv, please help us increase the serv’s level of helpfulness, pure informational value, and Member-benefit integrity by observing these guidelines:

·         The serv facilitates real-time communication among Members of OPRA and other stakeholders within the DD field.

·         As a listserv subscriber, you receive information and updates on issues related to Membership and the field

·         You are encouraged to send questions and comments back to listserv users.

·         Unless messages and/or replies are specifically directed, your response is sent to the entire group. One of the most common complaints we receive regarding listserv use is the overwhelming number of conversations between a few people that spring out of a message sent to a larger group. If you receive a message and you wish to respond to the group, simply hit “reply.” Otherwise, please reply only to the original sender by responding to the email listed after “on behalf of” in the FROM line of the message header.

·         You are more than welcome to address listserv groups in the BCC line. When you blind copy the group, it’s a bit more difficult to generate those conversational tangents.

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for OPRA’s website and better ways to communicate with you, please let us know! – as always, we are here to serve you.

Thank you!

Emily
