Helping Families Make Informed Choices
DODD now is posting provider compliance reports on the Department's website. Making this information readily available to individuals and their families will help them to make well-informed choices about who provides services for them, and was requested
by DODD in the state's Mid-Biennium Review bill.

Strategic Planning Leadership Group Sharpens Focus
The SPLG met September 9 to identify specific recommendations and benchmarks to move
the system forward over the next ten years. Areas discussed included employment, host homes/shared living options, nursing services in waivers, and wages for Direct Support Professionals.

Office of Health Transformation - Home Care News
On September 10, the Ohio Department of Medicaid announced it had surpassed
the spending target for directing half of all Medicaid long-term care funding to home-and community-based alternatives to higher-cost nursing home settings. The state's commitment was surpassed a full year ahead of projections.

Spotlight on Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)
A statewide recognition event spotlighting the important work of DSPs was hosted last week by the Ohio Alliance of Direct Support Professionals, and honored their creativity and foundational work
to improve the lives of people with disabilities.

Strong Families, Safe Communities - Hancock County
DODD traveled to Findlay to award an SFSC grant to the Family Resource
Center of Northwest Ohio, Inc., in partnership with other agencies in Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Putnam, and Van Wert counties. Grant efforts will strengthen community partnerships in serving youth at risk, and is awarded jointly by DODD and the Ohio
Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services.

Reminders for National Preparedness Month, September
National Preparedness Month is an effort to encourage individuals, families, businesses, and communities to work together and take action to prepare for emergencies. Helpful information specifically for people with disabilities,
their families, and care givers is included in this article.

Statewide Conference, WORKING Together
Just ahead of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (October),
a statewide employment conference, WORKING Together, was hosted in southwest Ohio. State and national leaders focused on integrated employment options for people with disabilities.
